Birkenhead News  28 October 1916

Killed in Action.

Private P. Cannon Falls.

It is with regret that we announce the death in action of Private P. Fernie Cannon, of the Royal Fusiliers. Pte. Cannon, who was just 21 years of age, is the elder son of Mrs. Lucy Cannon, and the late Capt. P. F. Cannon. Pte. Cannon joined the colours in November last. Prior to that he was in the Bank of Liverpool, and had a promising career before him. He was an old Institute boy, and will be remembered as a keen lover of outdoor sport of every description. Pte. Cannon resided with his mother at 69, Mount Road, Birkenhead. Mrs. Cannon, who has another son serving with the colours, has every sympathy in her sad bereavement.
