Licensee’s Loss

Private Jesse Brown Killed in Action.

News has come to hand to the effect that Pte. Jesse Brown has been killed in action. The deceased soldier, who was 42 years of age, was the eldest son of Mr. Jesse Brown of the Graving Dock Hotel, Beaufort Road, Birkenhead. He joined the South Lancashire Regiment upon the outbreak of the war and went to the front in September, 1915. Mr. Brown has received a letter of sympathy from the captain of his son’s company. Previous to the war Pte. Brown was employed for 20 years by Mr. William Simpson of the Woodside Lairage, where he was liked and respected by all who knew him.
