Military Funeral at Bebington

THE LATE PRIVATE MOWAT.

The funeral took place with full military honours at Bebington Cemetery on Thursday of Private Mowat whose parents reside at 57, Grove Road, Rock Ferry. The deceased who was only 21 years of age joined the Royal Army Medical Corps at North Shields in August 1914, and had seen service in France. He succumbed, after an attack of pneumonia, at the University War Hospital, Southampton. As the cortege left the residence the band of the 3rd Battalion, Cheshire Regiment played Handel’s “Dead March” in “Saul”, and at the graveside the firing party, in charge of Sgt. Perrin, fired three volleys, followed by the sounding of the “Last Post”.
