George Arthur's Story.

George Arthur Bebbington was born in Knutsford in 18185, one of six children born to William Arthur (a music teacher) and Alice Bebbington of 26, Bexton Road, Knutsford.

George became a bank clerk at Parrs bank, Garston and lodged at 10, Island Road, Garston, Liverpool.

He attested at Liverpool on the 11th September 1914 as Private no. 21446 and joined the 5th Battalion of the Kings (Liverpool Regiment), later being transferred to the 19th Battalion.

He was promoted to Lance corporal (unpaid) on the 17th November 1915.

George was killed in action on the 30th July 1916.
