Sydney John's Story.
Born Nantwich, enlisted Crewe. Son of John William and Sarah Ellen Hough of 2, Gladstone Street, Willaston. Prior to enlisting in September 1914, worked in the Signal Department, Crewe Works as a chargeman’s assistant. Went to France on September 28, 1915. Originally invalided home, returning to the Front on July 9, 1916.
