HOYLAKE BOWLER KILLED

Mr. and Mrs. Jackson, 52 Church Road, Hoylake, have suffered a most severe loss in the death of their son Jack, a private in the 9th King’s Liverpool Regt. Like his father, he was an employee of the Hoylake and West Kirby Urban District Council. He was a most popular young man. Clever at several branches of sport, he especially excelled at bowls, being one of the most promising young players attached to Hoylake Recreation Club. As a boy he was a member of the choir at the Fisherman’s Bethel, Church Road. Later on he attached himself to the Presbyterian Church. He was only twenty years of age. He first joined the Royal Engineers, but was transferred to the K.L.R., with whom he went to the front in January. A sympathetic letter has been received from one of his officers, 2nd Lieut A. G. Ward, and the Regimental Chaplain.
