PORT SUNLIGHT BOATMAN KILLED IN ACTION.

News has been received at Port Sunlight that Pte. John Hindley, of the Cheshire Regt., has met his death in action. He resided at 43, Lower Road, Port Sunlight, with his wife and three children. Pte. Hindley had been about 11 years with the firm of Lever Bros., serving on one of the boats plying between Port Sunlight and the docks of Liverpool. He was very well known, and when the call for men at the outbreak of war he volunteered and joined the famous 13th Cheshires, with which regiment he was serving. After recovering he was transferred to another battalion of the Cheshires, and the news came through last Tuesday that he had been killed. He was 34 years of age. His wife has received a letter from his captain, who says: “I should like to tell you that he was one of the finest soldiers in my company.” The deepest sympathy will go to Mrs. Hindley and her three children.
