Thomas Clayton's Story.

Born Crewe, enlisted Liverpool. Son of Thomas and Catherine Evans of 17, Brown Street, Crewe. Formerly a pupil at Edleston Road School and a workshop checker in the Joiners Shop Office, Crewe Works. Was a well-known footballer who played for Crewe Alexandra and Nantwich. Was killed in action on July 1 - the first day of the Battle of the Somme.
