Popular Rock Ferry Man Falls.

The sad news has been received by his mother Mrs. Williams, of 31, Wycliffe Street, Rock Ferry, that her son, Pte George Jackson, of the Cheshire Regt., has died from wounds received in action on May 13. This popular young man was a faithful employee of Messrs. Lever Bros., with which firm he had been since leaving school. One of the first to join the army when the call came, he was attached to the Cheshire Regt., “Wirral Pals.” He was very well-known locally as a very clever footballer, having played for Highfield Athletic for a number of seasons. Two other brothers are also serving their King and country. His father, Mr. John Smith Jackson, was killed on the Mersey Railway, some 16 years ago. The greatest sympathy is extended to his mother in the loss of so gallant a son.
