Horace Sayer's Story.

Horace was born in Liverpool in 1891, eldest son of Alfred and Emily Hudson, the family moved to Chorlton-cum-Hardy before residing in Lymm in 1911.  In civilian life he was in the service of Messrs Hall, Higham & Co of Manchester and was a member of the Lymm Amateur Football Club and a keen golfer.

He received his commission in August 1917 with the 9th Manchester Regiment and was attached to the Machine Gun Corps.

He died on 17th November 1918 from influenza at a hospital in France, leaving a widow and small son.

At the time of his death Horace's younger brother Eric was in hospital in Exeter badly wounded. 
Their father Alfred was a hardworking and energetic Hon Treasurer and Secretary of the Working Men's Committee of the Local Red Cross Society.
