Horace Sayer's Story.
Horace was born in Liverpool in 1891, eldest son of Alfred and Emily Hudson, the family moved to Chorlton-cum-Hardy before residing in Lymm in 1911. In civilian life he was in the service of Messrs Hall, Higham & Co of Manchester and was a member of the Lymm Amateur Football Club and a keen golfer.He received his commission in August 1917 with the 9th Manchester Regiment and was attached to the Machine Gun Corps.
He died on 17th November 1918 from influenza at a hospital in France, leaving a widow and small son.
At the time of his death Horace's younger brother Eric was in hospital in Exeter badly wounded.
Their father Alfred was a hardworking and energetic Hon Treasurer and Secretary of the Working Men's Committee of the Local Red Cross Society.
