William Henry's Story.

Born at Hoylake on 18 July 1891 the son of Alderman Henry Bloor, JP. Educated at Birkenhead School from 1902 to 1907. Then apprenticed to the Thames & Mersey Marine Insurance Company, later transferred to the National Provident Institution

Enlisted as a Trooper, Denbighshire Hussars in 1907. Promoted Sergeant in 1915

Gazetted 2nd Lieut, Royal Field Artillery in 1915

Killed in action at Ypres on 3 January 1918 while serving with C Battery, 148th Brigade, RFA

His Colonel wrote: “He was a very gallant and capable officer, and was greatly loved by the officers and men of the brigade.”
