John's Story.
John Brooks was born in Knutsford in 1890, one of four children born to George (a railway signalman) and Rebecca Brooks of 4, Hayton Street, Knutsford.
He enlisted at Sheffield in the Royal Field Artillery but was transferred into the 2/7th Manchester Regiment as Private no. 60534.
John was killed in action on the 21st March 1918.
