BIRKENHEAD GUNNER
Killed by a Shell.
Official news has been received that Gunner William T. Parry, eldest son of Mr. and Mrs. Parry, 11, Vulcan Street, has been killed in action. He was only 20 years of age and enlisted in the West Lancs. R.F.A., in October, 1915, and was in France for 16 months. At the time of his enlistment he was employed at the Birkenhead Post Office. He was educated at St. James’s School, Laird Street. Mrs. Parry has received from her son’s officer the following letter :- “It is with deep regret that I have to inform you of the death of your son, Gunner W. T. Parry who was killed instantly. I always found him the best of soldiers, always willing to do anything, and always a thoroughly reliable man, and a credit to the battery. I can only offer you my wholehearted sympathy in your sad loss.”
