All Hope Gone.

A “GOLIATH” STOKER.

Birkenhead Man’s Fate.

All hope has now been given up for Stoker William Sayman, of 130, Market Street, who formed one of the crew of H.M.S. Goliath, when she was torpedoed and sunk in the Dardanelles in the middle of May, 500 lives being lost. He was a Birkenhead man and had been in the Navy for 10 years. On August 3rd he was transferred to the Goliath. He leaves a widow and one son. Mrs. Sayman refused to give up hope when her husband was reported missing after the disaster, but has now to face the worst. She had expected him home about two months ago, and then heard that when his ship had been four days on its way to England, it received orders to proceed to the Dardanelles.
