Succumbs to Wounds.
Pte. Daniel Robertson, whose death from wounds received in action was recorded in Wednesday’s “News” resided at 461 Borough Road. He was 37 years of age, and enlisted in the 1st King’s Dragoon Guards twelve months ago. Later he was transferred to the 9th London Regt., and sailed for France in October last. During the recent heavy fighting he was severely wounded in the chest on April 7th, and died on the 16th at the 5th Casualty Clearing Station. At the age of 14 he was apprenticed in the composing department at the Liverpool “Journal of Commerce” remaining there up to the time of enlisting, viz., 23 years. Of a refined disposition, his one hobby was bowling in which he excelled. At the formation of the Press Bowling Club he worked very hard, and when Capt. Harry Fisher resigned the captaincy he was appointed captain of the team, a position he held up to the time he enlisted. He leaves a widow and two daughters, and also a sister with whom they reside, to mourn his loss. The deepest sympathy from a wide circle of friends will go to them in their great sorrow.
