Raymond Arthur's Story.

Raymond Arthur Brereton was born in Shropshire in 1895, the son of Joshua (a piano tuner) and Ruth Brereton of Paddock Hill, Mobberley. They later moved to The Plough and Flail, Mobberley where Ruth became the publican on the death of her husband.

Raymond enlisted in 'B' Company of the 12^th Battalion, Northumberland Fusiliers.

He died of wounds on the 26^th June 1916.
