James's Story.
James was the son of Mr and Mrs R Walker of 9 Mersey View, Weston Point, Runcorn. He is mentioned as having work at Castner Kellner and also Salt Union Salt works, but is listed on the Castner Kellner Memorial only.He was one of the 13 Weston Point footballers who travelled to Wrexham to join up.
The last his parents heard from him was a letter dated 24th September, in which he wrote
"We are just going into the trenches and this time for a big battle. All the boys are for it, barring Harry Gorunds and Bostock, as they have lett us and gine to the trench mortars"
He was killed on the 25th September at the battle of Loos and has no known grave, being commemorated on the Loos Memorial, Pas de Calais France.
