YOUNG SOLDIER GIVES HIS LIFE.

Private John P. Broomfield, the second son of Mr. and Mrs. Broomfield, 36, Mallaby Street, was killed in action on July 19th of last year. The young soldier (he was just 19) joined the Cheshires upon the outbreak of war. In June, 1916, Private Broomfield was transferred to the Gloucesters, and was sent to France, where he died a soldier’s death one month later. He was educated at Laird Street Council School and the Higher Elementary School. Before joining the colours Pte. Broomfield in the office of a well-known shipping firm in Liverpool.
