Ronald Henry's Story.
MAJOR R. H. GREIG, D.S.0. " The Daily Telegraph" of yesterday contains the following notice of'Major R. H. Greig, D.S.0.. formerly of The Hollies, London-road. Nantwich, and the last adjutant of the Crewe Battalion of the Royal Engineers:
Major Ronald Henry Greig, D.S.0., Royal Engineers, killed on 28th August 1916, was born in 1876, and was son of Lieutenant-Colonel B. R. Greig and Mrs. Greig, daughterof the late Sir J. D. Sibbald Scott. He married, in 1909, Mary Hope, daughter of Edmund H. Clutterbuck, ot Hardenhuish Park, Wiltshire, and leaves one son and two daughters. Major Greig passed out of Woolwich into the Royal Engineers in March, 1896, and had promotion in March, 1899: he was captain in 1905, and had his majority in October, 1914. He served with distinction in the present war. In the South African War (1899-1902) he was severely wounded. He took part in the advance on Kimberley, including the actions at Belmont, Enslin, and Modder River. Afterwards he served in many operations in the various Colonies. For these services he was mentioned in dispatches,made a Companion of the Distinguished Service Order, and received the Queen's and the King's medals with six clasps."

Ronald Henry Greig was born on 4th April 1876, the son of . He married Mary Hope Leticia (Tish) Clutterbuck on 5th October 1909 in Hardenhuish, Wiltshire. They had three children: Rachel Elizabeth (Betty) Greig 1910–2007, Ronald David Greig 1913–1994 and Judith Henrietta Greig 1916–1997.
After Ronald's death in 1916, his widow Tish married MaleGodfrey Denne Rokeling (1887–1976) in 1919. She died aged 83 in 1972.
