Christopher's Story.
St. Mary's Weaverham R.o.H. records a C. (Christopher) Chetwynd.
The 1911 census records a Chetwynd family living in the Station Houses Acton Bridge. Christopher the eldest son was living in with his mother and father, younger siblings of 3 sisters and 2 brothers. His father was the Station Master at that time. Looking at the births of his children he had only been located in St. Mary’s Parish for a couple of years. Christopher, who was born at Heatley/Warburton was 15 in 1911, putting him at 18/19 in 1914.
Cheshirebmd record an Amanthus Chetwynd born Lymm in 1895. (The spelling can be Amantus/Amanthus.) Freebmd record the birth of a Chetwynd, Amanthus W. C., in Altrincham in the Dec. Q. 1895.
Northwich Guardian 1916, 2nd June; STATION MASTERS SON WOUNDED.
Mr. Chetwynd, the stationmaster at Acton Bridge has received a field card, informing him that his son Private A.W.C. Chetwynd, of the Cheshire Regiment, is wounded.
N.A.M.C. - have a medal card for Chetwynd, Amantus W. with the Cheshire Regiment No 14739, Private, also registered with the Labour Corps No 152291 Private. Awarded the 15 Star, British and Victory medals. Theatre of War, France and Date of Entry, 26/9/1915. (There was only one lad named Chetwynd with the Cheshire Regiment.)
Some Service Records where available to view for this lad, he enlisting in Sept. 1914 at Northwich, posted with the Cheshires as Pte. joined the Expedition Force to France 26th Sept. 1915. Appears to have been posted with the Middlesex Regiment Sept. 1916 before transferring to the Labour Corps. There is second sheet which reference the Labour Corps and the new Service No 152291 and includes an address of 4 Saddler Street, Appleton, Widnes.
Freebmd goes on to record the marriage of Amantus W.C. Chetwynd to Elsie Woodward in the Sept Q. of 1919 in Northwich. Cheshirebmd records the marriage at St. Mary’s Weaverham. The marriage certificate records the date as the 2nd Aug. 1919, Christopher now a Railway Porter, and they both living in Weaverham. (Just on his Christian names the Wedding Certificate records Amantus William Christopher Chetwynd.)

The bells of Weaverham Church rang out merrily on Saturday in honour of the marriage of Mr. A.W.C. Chetwynd, late of the 10th Battalion Cheshire Regiment, second son of Mr. J. Chetwynd, formerly stationmaster of Acton Bridge and Miss E. Woodward, fourth daughter of Mr. F. Woodward of Weaverham………….The bride was given away by her brother, Mr. W. Woodward and Mr. N. Trelfa of Altrincham, acted as best man. The service was conducted by the Rev. F. Long, vicar of the Parish………...
Freebmd records two births in the March Q. of 1920 of Chetwynd/Woodward, Amantus W. B. & Mary, at Prescot, a third child was born in March Q. of 1922 at Northwich, named Clayton, Cheshirebmd records this birth in the Weaverham District. (Lancashirebmd does not record the Prescot births!)
St. Mary’s cemetery records record the death of Amantus Will. C. Chetwynd death 19/12/1960 of Forest St.
