Douglas Haig's Story.
Private Douglas Haig Worthington, age 21 in 1940, he was the youngest son of Mr. and Mrs. George Worthington of 87, Spring Gardens, Runcorn. He was educated at the Holy Trinity School and prior to the war worked at the Rocksavage Steel Works.He enlisted in October 1939 and served with the Royal Army Ordnance Corps in France.
He was reported missing in August 1940, later confirmed a prisoner of war.
