Birkenhead News  8 November 1917

BEBINGTON C.L.B. BOY FALLS.

The news has come through that Staff-Sergt. Ralph Williams, of the Bebington Church Lads’ Brigade, was killed in action on October 18th, whilst serving with his regiment, the King’s Royal Rifles. It was only on October 2 that young Williams returned to the Front after spending a few days home on leave. He was the eldest son of Mr. and Mrs. Williams, of 13, Bromborough Road, Trafalgar, who have had four sons altogether serving in his Majesty’s Forces during the present war. The late soldier was a lance-corporal in his regiment and was 24 years of age. He enlisted at the commencement of war in the York and Lancaster Regt. and after training for some time was accepted in the King’s Royal Rifles. He was employed at Port Sunlight in No. 1 Frame Room.
