Mrs. Swindley, of 1, Ashburton Road, has received official intimation that her husband, Gunner B. M. Swindley, late of Barrow and Manchester, was killed in action on August 30th. He was the son of Mr. Swindley, carpet manufacturer, of Clayton Square. He joined the Liverpool Scottish at the formation of the regiment and served with it seven years, holding the position of sergeant. In June 1917, he joined the R.G.A., and was drafted to France in the following March. Gunner Swindley was an old Institute boy, and prior to joining the Army was manager of a furniture warehouse. He was a keen golfer, and was a member of the Wirral Club on its first, and latterly of the Manchester Scottish. Much sympathy will be extended to Mrs. Swindley in her sad bereavement.
