William's Story.
Second Lieutenant William Soro, Royal Fusiliers, was the only son of Mr. W. Soro, 28, Mill Lane, Reddish. He joined the Public Schools battalion, becoming 5648 Private William Soro, he went to France 14 November 1915. He was given his commission on the field 18 December 1916. Lieutenant Soro was formerly on the administrative staff of the Manchester Education Committee and before that on the staff of the Gorton Education Committee.

News has been received by Mr. and Mrs. Soro of Mill Lane Reddish, that their only son, Second Lieutenant William Soro of the Royal Fusiliers was killed in action on April 16 . The officer commanding the battalion states: “Lieutenant Soro fell while gallantly leading an attack on the enemy position.”
