George's Story.
Birkenhead News 18 October 1918Tranmere Man Falls.
Mrs. Jones, 30 Mill Street, Tranmere, has received official intimation that her second son, Pte. George Jones, died on Oct. 9th at a clearing station in France after receiving gunshot wounds. He joined the Cheshire Regt. at the outbreak of war, being first sent to Salonika, where he saw three years’ active service. In July of this year Pte. Jones was transferred to France, where he had been for 11 weeks at the time of his death. He was educated at St. Luke’s School, Tranmere.
