Chester Chronicle, Saturday, May 27, 1944.

Handbridge Airman Missing.

Mrs Coe, wife of Flight-Sergeant (Air) George Ernest Coe, 18 Eaton Avenue, Eaton Road Estate, Chester, has been informed that her husband is missing after an operational flight.
He was 34. F/Sgt. Coe joined the R.A.F.V.R. in October 1940 and had made many flights over enemy territory. He was attached to the Canadian Air Force. Flight Sergeant Coe is a son of Mr. and Mrs. E. Coe, 17, Overleigh Road, Chester. He attended St. Mary’s Day and Sunday Schools, and later became a sidesman at St. Mary’s Church. About ten years ago he founded a hairdressing business in Grosvenor Road, which Mrs. Coe continued to manage in his absence. They have been married three years.
