Samuel's Story.
Nantwich Guardian, Friday, November 9, 1917.
Private S. Myatt.
Mrs Myatt, 36, Lockitt Street, Crewe, has received information that her son, Private Sam Myatt, Cheshire Regiment, has been killed in action.
Lieutenant A. W. Garner, writing to Mrs Myatt, says:
“It is with the deepest regret I have to inform you of the death of your son. He was killed on October 22nd while nobly doing his duty in the front-line trenches… His death was instantaneous … He was respected by all who knew him, and he could be always relied upon to do his duty.”
Private Myatt who had been at the front for two years was previously employed by Mr. Yoxall, Mill Street, Crewe.
