Frank's Story.

Born in Frodsham in 1896 to John and Elizabeth Antrobus, he was one of 7 children. In 1911 he is found living with his Uncle, Edward Antrobus in Runcorn at 12 Cross Street.

Below is an article found in the local paper reporting Franks death.
Runcorn Weekly News - Friday 25 February 1916

RUNCORN SOLDIER KILLED. PREVIOUSLY REPORTED MISSING
Mrs. Findlow, of 12, Sutherland street, has this week received official confirmation from the Records Office, Shrewsbury, that her brother, Private Frank Antrobus, was killed in action on August 10th, place not stated. Private Antrobus was attached to the 6th South Lancashire Regiment. which he joined on August 14th, 1914. He went out to the Dardanelles in June of last year, and after he went on active service his sister only heard from him on one occasion, when he said he had come safely through two engagements. In September Private Shone, of Wellington street, who was in the same company, wrote home saying .they had lost Private Antrobus in the fighting against the Turks, but in spite of every inquiry by the relatives no definite official notification was forthcoming until this week. Prior to the war he resided in Sutherland street, and was employed by the Manchester Ship canal Company. He was only 20 years of age.

He has no known grave and he is commemorated on the Helles Memorial in Turkey.

On the Frodsham and Runcorn memorials are an E Antrobus. I can not find any E Antrobus from Runcorn being killed in WW1 and wonder if this is is Frank ?.
