Eloi Joseph Emile's Story.
Eloi Joseph Emile Beaudry was born to parents Mandoza and Augustine Beaudry of Cut Knife Saskatchewan in 1923. He volunteered for flying duties with the RCAF enlisting on 22 July 1941 at Saskatoon. He completed his training in Canada before sailing for UK in April 1943. He was posted to 464 Squadron RAAF on 25 May 1943. 464 squadron was a light bomber squadron flying Lockheed Ventura aircraft at the time. On 24th June 1943 Eloi flew on a mission to bomb an airframe assembly facility and fuel tanks located at Flushing in Holland from which he returned successfully. His next flight was a cross country night training flight on 18th August 1943 when he flew in Ventura serial number AE688 with Flight Sergeant Johnson (AUS) piloting the aircraft. The aircraft crashed into a hillside near Llandrog killing all four crew members. The plane was considerably off course at the time and the cause of the accident is unknown.
