Jack Douglas's Story.

Jack was the son of Mr. and Mrs. S. G. Baird. Born at Neepawa, Manitoba Baird attended Laura Secord and Gordon Bell schools there , and completed two years in engineering at the University of Manitoba, where he was a member of the O.T.C. He transferred to active service in April, 1943 . He graduated as a navigator bombardier at Chatham N.B., May 1944  and received his commission. In September 1944  he went overseas arriving in UK on 1st October 1944. On 7th November 1944 he was posted to 6 ( C) OTU based at RAF Silloth. On 6th December 1944 Jack was killed when the Wellington bomber HF199  that he was flying in crashed on landing at Silloth after completing a training mission.
