Simon's Story.

R.S.M Simon Harvey had served during the Boer War, he re-enlisted into the Cheshire’s when war was declared, serving with 11th battalion and also the 6th battalion, he went to France 25 September 1915. He was demobbed 26 February 1919. In 1917 he was awarded the D.C.M.

Sergeant-Major Harvey’s D.C.M.

 It is officially announced that Regimental Sergeant-Major S. Harvey of the Cheshire’s has been awarded the Distinguished Conduct Medal.“For continuous gallantry and devotion to duty. He has consistently performed good work throughout, and has at times set a splendid example.” Sergeant-Major Harvey is an old soldier, having served in the Boer War. He re-enlisted as a private in September 1914, soon after the outbreak of war. He went to the front two years ago. Previous to that he was employed in the Rail Mill, Crewe Works. His wife resides at 20, Peel street, Crewe.
