NEW FERRY LANCE-CORPORAL KILLED.

Mrs. Smith, of 7, Sea View, New Ferry, has received news announcing the death of Lance-Corporal T. Smith, who has been killed in action in France. He joined up at the beginning of hostilities, and was drafted to Egypt in July, 1915, and took part in the Palestine operations. He was transferred to France in May, 1918, and came home on leave in the early part of July. Before joining up in the 1/4th Cheshire Regt., he was formerly employed at Messrs. Lever Bros., Port Sunlight. In a letter from one of his mates to his wife, he told her that previous to his death Lance-Corporal Roberts had been promoted to the rank of sergeant.
