MR. BIGLAND’S CHAUFFEUR

Death of Mr. Geo. F. Brown.

The death occurred at the Liverpool Infirmary on Saturday Mr. Geo. F. Brown, who for some years acted in the capacity of chauffeur to Mr. Alfred Bigland, M.P. Early in October he volunteered for the hazardous duty of driving an armoured motor-car at the front, and left Birkenhead at the end of the month for France. There he put in some admirable work for his country, and underwent many hardships. The effect, unfortunately, was to seriously undermine his health, and when he returned home some few weeks ago he was obviously very ill. Pulmonary disease manifested itself, and the poor young fellow passed away on Saturday. Mr. Brown was a very fine young man in all respects, and his death under such circumstances is lamented by his many friends. His as truly did for his country as did any soldier in the firing line, for until he went to France he was in the enjoyment of robust health. Mr. Brown was unmarried.

George's grave in Flaybrick Cemetery, Birkenhead.
