Frederick's Story.

Two Oxton Brothers Dead.

Mr. and Mrs. Jones, of 10 Newburns Lane, Oxton, received news on Sunday last that their only son, Pte. Fred Jones, Cheshire Regiment had been admitted to hospital suffering from gas poisoning and a gunshot wound. Another telegram was received the following morning saying he had passed away on July 27th . The parents have received two very nice letters, one from a matron of the hospital at Rouen, and one from the Army Chaplain. His last request was that the Chaplain might write to his parents and all he loved at home. He is buried in the military cemetery, Rouen.

Pte. Jones had served with the colours since December 1914, being on active service in Egypt for 2 ½ years. He came to France only a month ago, and thus met his fate. He would have been 23 years of age yesterday (Friday) Mr. and Mrs. Jones also lost their eldest son Joseph while on war work for Messrs. Cammell, Laird and Co.
