Roland Sydney George's Story.
Roland was born in Lymm in 1899, the youngest and third son of Mr & Mrs Robert Brooks, Camsley Farm, Statham, Lymm. He was educated at Thelwall School and attended All Saints Church, Thelwall.He enlisted into the Fusiliers 2 weeks before his death having recently attained the military age of 18. Soon after enlisting whilst in training he suffered from influenza which then developed into pneumonia.
He died on 12th August 1917 aged 18 and his body was conveyed back to Lymm accompanied by an officer. His funeral took place at St Mary's Church, Lymm, and he is buried in the church yard.
