James Rawson's Story.
Born and enlisted Crewe. Son of Thomas and Elizabeth Rimmer of 24, Oak Street, Crewe. Worked prior to enlisting (on September 2, 1914) in the Copper Shop, Crewe Works as a labourer. Embarked from Southampton for France on September 25, 1915. Originally posted as missing after a bayonet charge.

A letter has been received by the parents of private J.R. Rimmer, Cheshire Regiment, who had been missing since the 3rd of July 1916, stating that the army council are regretfully constrained to conclude that he died on or since that date. Private Rimmer was 22 years of age and enlisted 17 months ago. Before the war he was employed in the Copper Shop, Crewe Works his home was a 24 Oak Street, Crewe.
