William's Story.

Born Marbury, enlisted Chester. Son of Thomas and Annie Maddocks of Old House, Gaugton’s Bank, Norbury. Enlisted on November 5, 1907 after working as a labourer. Went to France (Le Havre) on January 16, 1915. Died of wounds in No.10 Casualty Clearing Station at Hazebrouck. Five other brothers served during the war. Wilfred and Job would survive, but Thomas, Joseph and John would all die during the conflict.
