Albert's Story.

A Racing Cyclist.
To the long list of local gallant heroes who have given their lives in the present campaign must be added the name of Pte. Albert Brassey, aged 22, of the 4th Cheshires, the official intimation of his death having been received by his mother, Mrs. Brassey, who resides at 7, Whitfield Street. Private Brassey left for the Dardanelles with the first contingent of his regiment, and after the first engagement nothing was heard of him. The War Office telegram states that he was killed on August 19th.
Before the war he was employed as a clerk with the Clan Line, Liverpool, and was a member of the Liverpool Shipping Staffs’ Association. He was a very keen cyclist, and had won several prizes for cycle racing. He was an old scholar of St. Peter’s School, and a popular member of St. Peter’s choir.
A brother of the deceased, Private Ernest Naylor Brassey, also a member of the 4th Cheshires, has been wounded.
