Young Tranmere Seaman Killed – at the Dardanelles

The sympathy of a large number of friends and acquaintances goes out to Mr. and Mrs Batty, of 33, Holt Road, Lower Tranmere, in the sad loss they have sustained by the loss of their eldest son, Seaman George Batty A.B., of the Nelson Battalion, Royal Naval Division, who was killed in the Dardanelles on June 16th. Previous to his going to the Dardanelles this young seaman, who was only 19 years of age, took part in the defence of Antwerp. He was educated at St Catherine’s School, and on leaving there was apprenticed to Messrs. Cammell Laird and Co as a pattern-maker.
