Hugh Martin's Story.
Born in 1918 at Macclesfield, son of John Carruthers and Evelyn Maud, (nee, Emmett), McGuffie, of Pennant, Whaley Bridge. Hugh married Joan Saint Clair Openshaw in the last quarter of 1940, they lived at Disley, Cheshire.
Hugh died, Monday, 23 March 1942 when the Oxford I, AT659, collided with high tension wires on approach to landing.
