Geoffrey Edward's Story.
Geoffrey Edward Mason was the son of Mr and Mrs A Mason of Gainsborough Road Crewe. He studied at Crewe Secondary School from 1935 to 1943. He joined the army shortly after finishing school in November 1943 and volunteered for Airborne training which he successfully completed. In July 1945 he sailed for India where he was to join the Royal Corps of Signals attached to 5th Parachute Brigade. However, whilst on the ship he contracted infectious hepatitis and died on 17th August 1945 aged 20. He was buried in Kirkee War Cemetery, Pune after initial burial at Sewree Cemetery in Bombay.
