Well-known Boy Killed

Mrs. Davies of 8, Pym Street, has received official news that her son, Pte. F. W. Davies, has been killed in action on March 15th 1918. He joined the Cheshires in 1915, and was drafted to France in June, 1917. In a letter to his relatives his commanding officer says :- “He was a most reliable and trustworthy soldier in action, and as his company commander I shall find his loss a very great one.” Prior to joining the Army he was employed by James and Holmes, estate agents, and was also a student at the Laird Street School of Art. Much regret will be felt at his death, as he was very well known throughout the town having been a resident of Birkenhead all his life.
