Joseph's Story.
Born in 1893, at Hazel Grove, son of collier, David and Dora Hallworth, of 1, Queens Road, Hazel Grove. He had four brothers, Stanley, Frank, Ernest and Harold and four sisters, Gladys, Gertrude, Lilly and Sarah Ann.
Joseph enlisted at Hyde, Cheshire, he declared he was 21 years and 74 days of age, his occupation was collier. The army medical papers show he was five feet six inches tall weighed 135lbs with a chest measurement of thirty-seven inches.
He embarked for France, 28/09/1915. Joseph was killed in action, 25 May 1916, aged 22 years.
