Thomas Henry's Story.

Thomas Henry was born in 1881, eldest son of Henry and Hannah Cadman of Booths Hill, Lymm.  He was an "Old Boy" of Lymm Parochial School and worshipped at the Congregational Church, Lymm.

He married Bertha Johnson of Rushgreen on 3rd August 1903 at St Peter's church, Old Withington, Cheshire and resided at no 1 Brookfield Cottages, Booth Hill, Lymm before moving to 7 Devonshire Street, Newton Heath in Manchester.

He enlisted with the Manchester Regiment and was with the Indian Expeditionary Forces at Mesopotamia.  In a letter home he referred to the country at Mesopotamia as the 'strangest he had ever seen or heard of', and that he had journeyed about 8,000 miles mostly over the desert and had passed through the Gardens of Eden, Babylon and the Promised Land.

He died in Mesopotamia on 9th January 1917 aged 36, he left a number of brothers and sisters, his older brother Harry Cadman served with the Cheshire Regiment and saw considerable action in France.
