Birkenhead News 25 May 1918OLD TRANMERE CRICKETER SUCCUMBS TO WOUNDS.
Private Robert Frederick Edwards, 36 years of age, whose wife resides at 30, Crofton Road, Tranmere, Birkenhead, died on May 3rd from shell wounds in the 1st Canadian General Hospital at Etaples. Employed for 23 years by Messrs. Thin and Sinclair, machinists, Chapel St., Liverpool, he joined up with the South Lancashires some eighteen months ago, and after training at Denham went to France about a year ago. He was an old member of the Tranmere Victoria Cricket Club and at one period acted as secretary. Mrs. Edwards has a message of condolence in her loss from the King and Queen.
