James S.'s Story.
Born and enlisted Crewe. Husband of Florence Wood of 47, Sheppard Street, Crewe. A well-known local footballer who had played for Crewe Alexandra, Crewe Forge, Middlewich and Macclesfield. Worked in the Forge, Crewe Works as a forgeman, before enlisting. Went to France (Boulogne) on July 19, 1915.
