Frank's Story.
Frank was the son of Sarah Anne Walker, in 1911 Sarah, age 54 was a widow, living at 28 Perrey Street, Runcorn, living in the family home were six of her eight surviving children, they were, Mary Jane, 26, John Wesley, 21, Sydney Mees, 19, Esther, 13, Sarah Annie, 10 and Frank who was 17. The 1911 census shows that Sarah had ten children of which two had died. The census confirms Frank was working as an apprentice blacksmith. His brother Sydney Mees Walker was killed in action twelve days after Frank, on the July 13 serving with 2nd battalion South Lancashire Regiment. He is also named on Thiepval Memorial.

Reported Wounded and Missing.
Private Frank Walker, the son of Mrs Walker, of Perrey Street, is reported as wounded and missing. His mother has received two letters from a pal at the front in the same regiment to say that he had expected to hear from him being in England and was surprised to know that he was wounded and missing. Unofficial notification has been received from the records office, Shrewsbury, notifying them that he has been wounded and missing from July 1st. He is 22 years of age and enlisted in the 1/5th Cheshire Regiment. He went to France in February 1915, with the Runcorn Territorials.
He had one brother who has been killed in France. Before listing he was employed as a blacksmith at Golbourne, Newton-le-Willows. He served his apprenticeship with Mr Ira Withington, his uncle. He was a member of Halton Road Wesleyan Cricket Club.
