Charles Herbert's Story.
Born in 1894 at Bolton le Moors, Lancashire, son of congregational minister, Horace William and Beatrice Ada, (nee Burch), Turner, Back oth Bank, Bolton, Lancashire. By 1911, they were resident at Mendip Villa, Wilmslow, Charles siblings were, Lucy Beatrice, Bertha Jessie, Alfred Newnham, Grace Margaret, and Hilda Agnes Charles enlisted at Manchester. His campaign was fought on the Ypres Salient; he attained the rank of Sergeant but reverted at his own request, back to the ranks, 24/08/1918. He died of wounds received, Thursday, 17 October 1918, aged 24 years.
