Three Brothers
One Killed, Two at the Front
The death in action has taken place of Pte. T. W. Waring, of the Cheshire Regt., who prior to the war resided at 41 Holt Road, Tranmere. He joined the Army early in 1916, and went to Salonika in August. He was employed by Mr. Hughes, painter, Higher Tranmere. In the letter from his captain the bereaved mother is vouchsafed the consoling information that her son died very shortly after he was hit, and did not suffer. We convey to her our deepest sympathy.
The newspaper article also mentions Thomas’ two brothers, George and Alfred, both serving in the Cheshire Regiment. Sadly, Alfred was also killed just over a month later on the 16th February 1916. He is buried in Amara War Cemetery, Iraq.
