William's Story.

William was born in 1892 in Lymm, eldest son of Richard and Polly Read, Newfield, Lymm.  He was educated at Lymm Parochial School and attended the Congregational Church.
In civilian life he was an engine driver for Walter Filter & Co, Thrashing Machine Proprieter, Sankey Bridges.
He joined the army in February 1916 and was posted to France in July 1916.  He was wounded in the right arm in August of the same year and was treated in a hospital in Brighton before returning to the front in September
He died from wounds to the head and foot received from the explosion of an airplane bomb on August 21st 1918 aged 26 and is buried in Belgium.
